SXSW 2020
Deepfake Art and the Bright Side of the Dark Web
Description:
We all know about the nefarious uses of deepfakes. But what about the brighter side, that isn’t all doom and gloom? What if deepfakes actually provide opportunities for creativity, borderless language, or even eternal life? We’re seeing more positive applications of deepfake technology, like two artists and who created deepfake of Mark Zuckerberg to warn us about Facebook’s omnipotent power, or Nvidia’s AI model that can take video of the real world and use it to generate a realistic and interactive virtual world. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Backslash uncovers what living our lives in tandem with digital dopplegangers might mean for our future.
