SXSW 2020

Wasting Away: The Cheerful Future of Trash

Description:

How big of a problem is garbage disposal? Think of it this way: Every year, fourteen million tons of plastic, or one truckload every minute, wind up in our oceans, and billions more end up in landfills, polluting the earth and causing greenhouse emissions that may soon make our planet uninhabitable. This, sadly, is not a new problem; what’s new are the solutions: Working quietly and collaboratively, a group of scientists and entrepreneurs have teamed up to find sustainable, efficient, and affordable solution to waste management, making sure that the future of trash is a happy one. This panel of innovators will reveal some of the promising solutions currently entering the market, from new technologies to recycle almost everything to new models of making money on waste.
