SXSW EDU 2020

Let Student Journalists Cover School Board Meeting

Description:

What does student voice really mean? In this session we will explore ways to address the problem of news deserts and under-resourced local journalism by challenging student journalists to cover school board meetings, creating important entry-points for students to become civically engaged. As districts across the country consider whether to include student school board members, this PBS Student Reporting Labs initiative will amplify student voice and transparency on the policies and resolutions.
