SXSW 2020
Approaching Mental Health Through Tech Innovation
Description:
In this interview, we’ll explore the potential for technology to impact the delivery and efficacy of mental health services. Part of the conversation will be through the lens of a groundbreaking telehealth pilot being conducted by The Harris Center for Mental Health & IDD that virtually connects mental health clinicians with deputies from the Houston Police Dept and Harris County Sheriff's Office in the field, diffusing tense situations and reducing utilization of hospital emergency rooms or jails. We’ll also address broader goals of using tech as a force multiplier and to normalize mental health services, thus decreasing stigmatization. The stakes are incredibly high in solving societal issues related to mental health and tech has a pivotal role to play in this pilot or any other program.
