SXSW 2020

Using Sex And Porn Online To Change The World IRL

Description:

A visual / verbal exploration of how changing the context of explicit materials can improve human communication and experience. I will speak to the potential benefits of being exposed to graphic, sexual media alongside typical lifestyle content. An accompanying presentation will demonstrate the problem [people are afraid to speak frankly about sex] and proposed solution [sex, porn, life and news all together]. Additional examination of the application of abstract and purely aesthetic methods of sorting multiple media formats.

Takeaways

  1. Consuming sexual and pornographic content alongside everyday lifestyle materials can normalize a typically taboo, shame-filled subject.
  2. Normalizing all aspects of sex can encourage self acceptance, free exploration and the open discussion of consent.
  3. Changing the way sexual and pornographic content is displayed, sorted and consumed can change the way people think and speak about sex.
