SXSW 2019
Making Disclosure Sexy - Living with Herpes
Description:
More than one out of every six people aged 14 to 49 years are living with genital herpes in the United States. Despite the fact that Herpes is a common STD, there remains a stigma around people living with it. And, in 2018 it can be confronting to have an open conversation with sexual partners about STI's and testing. I'm hosting a live podcast recording at SXSW for the Ignite Intimacy podcast between myself and 2 other professionals in the sex, STI, sex ed space. We'll discuss destigmatizing Herpes and other STI's, dispelling myths about herpes and how to make STI testing and disclosure sexy. We'll also focus on how to take care of yourself after a positive test result, when and how to disclose your status and how to have a thriving sex life when you're living with an STD.
