Frontend Development Techniques for the Modern Web

As web developers and designers we tend to overlook how our landscape has changed, for the better, in the past decade. Between 2002-2010, our community was rot with code and resource bloat that hindered performance and maintainability. To overcome these issues, we created a slew of tips, tricks and hacks that we dubbed "technique". Within the last few years better standards and standards implementations have sprung to life allowing us, as a community, to develop newer and more advanced techniques. In this article I'll touch on some of the most significant changes and emerging APIs in HTML, CSS and JavaScript that have impact on your workflow now, and in the future.
