Mind the Gap: Bridging High School & College

For many students, the last two years of high school can be drawn out and wasteful, devoted to standardized testing and the narrow, often hollow, yet demanding requirements of college applications. What if we could imagine a meaningful continuum from the 9th grade to a Bachelor's degree, free of the pressures and problems of the college admissions process?

Bard College at Simon's Rock is the first and only educational institution offering to carry students from the beginning of high school to the end of college in six years rather than eight. Find out how this integrated program bridges the gap between high school and higher education.

Learning Objectives

  1. The conventional American high school can trap students in a drawn-out educational structure full of delays, hurdles and bottlenecks.
  2. Students deserve an educational structure that acknowledges their individual needs.
  3. An integrated model, with multiple entry and exit points, offers students a path from the beginning of high school to the end of college.
