IoT Vs Me: Battle of Connectivity and Humanity

Why do smarter devices keep getting dumber interfaces?

Look around your home, the chances are it is populated with more tech than ever before, previously simple machines are now packed with ever more features to help them sell; marketing and product designers in an escalating arms race. Each new feature commanding screens, bleeps and push notifications. In the drive to add intelligence to objects we’re all too often adding to the cognitive load of the user. It’s time to put an end to needy washing machines.

Smart should be mean simple, adding the Internet should add empathy.

This session will give practical guidance on how to design the interfaces for the next generation of IoT.
