Fighting Zombies: Teaching kids how to watch porn

Roads are dangerous, but you don't stop young people from crossing them, you teach them how to cross safely. It's the same with the digital world. Access to porn has increased, exposure is starting younger than ever before and with substandard sex education in our schools, it's not surprising that teens look online for answers. But watching porn at a young age comes with numerous serious issues, including addiction. We're not able stop young people watching porn, so how can we teach them to watch it safely? Helping them to understand what is real, what's not and how it can affect their behaviour. We'll look at innovative approaches from around the world, including a battle with zombies.

Questions

  1. How is the rise in freely available porn harmful to teens?
  2. How can you equip teens to better understand the explicit imagery that they are seeing?
  3. What is a porn zombie? And other innovative approaches from around the world.
