Arena vs. Couch: The Battle of Game Day Experience

Gigantic TVs, tricked-out home entertainment systems and rising ticket prices are making it easier than ever for sports fans to skip the stadium and watch from home. It's increasingly difficult to compete with the creature comforts of a 70-inch screen and beers from the fridge. The future of sports entertainment will be determined by how teams, media companies and tech upstarts package experiences to engage fans. Is it software-driven stadiums or HD and the second screen? And how do we keep the authenticity of the stadium experience in the era of pull-to-refresh iPhones and iPads? Sports heavyweights like the San Francisco Giants and University of Michigan and tech startups like SportStream are emerging as top contenders in the game of bringing fans exactly what they want, wherever they want. These leaders will explain how they think about applying technology, social and the good old-fashioned roar of the crowd to attract fans to their experiences -- in venue and out.
