SXSW 2021
Overcoming Bias in a Limited Capital Industry
Description:
Amy, Julia and Imelda will discuss the challenges of not only raising money in an emerging industry, but doing it as female and BIPOC founders. In a space that already has limited capital and no access to traditional funding sources, they will explore how women and BIPOC can overcome biases in their fundraising. Focusing on a discussion of equity, women and BIPOC in executive positions, changing the composition of Boards and raising capital under extraordinary conditions, they will share their personal experiences and lean into what is working both in and outside of cannabis to support female founders and BIPOC entrepreneurs.
