SXSW 2021

Experience Life by Sensing the Unheard and Unseen

Description:

Discovering life in everything around the world. Even microbes or objects can revive our joy to coexist with diverse beings in this world. These lives are dynamic and full of moving electrons / chemicals, but we rarely notice those silent dynamism in the micro/macro world. Even insects or birds are enjoying this tremendous world differently. Beyond our senses or scales, or from any higher dimension distorted spaces, we can free ourselves from the so-called social distances and common senses. I’ll introduce the researches and experimental projects of creating the sense symphony of unheard voices & unseen divinities inside objects, through AR, p-com, or Ais with some Japanese cultural senses, that lead toward World Expo 2025, and the participatory democratized music/arts in our future.

Takeaways

  1. What does the world look like from the visual/auditory perspective of insects and plants? How can we perceive things not in our visual/audible range?
  2. Microorganisms, electrons, light—the world is full of dynamic moving life that we can’t see. How can we feel and interact with inorganic substances?
  3. How can we intuitively understand high-dimensional space and curved mysterious space structures? Is it possible to take a 3D stereoscopic photograph?
