SXSW 2021
Impact Global VOD: Films, Free for Good
Description:
This panel will cover the international VOD platforms and financial sources filmmakers may avail themselves of to achieve impact-oriented distribution. There is no point in filmmakers creating change-making films if one cannot achieve impactful distribution. When critical films are not seen, no impact is made—nothing changes. Audiences typically do not pay transaction costs to see most indies, especially documentaries. Even as the corporate worldwide VOD streaming giants are licensing fewer independent films, one can still reach audiences and impact the planet via global VOD exhibition on numerous international platforms with financial support from philanthropic and/or responsible corporate funding. We will discuss distribution that treats VOD as part of a robust impact campaign strategy.
