If I were a pilgrim seeking enlightenment regarding metadata, and I were to climb an arduous mountain somewhere in remotest Asia in search of that knowledge, I would expect to find Jenny Benevento in full lotus at the mist-shrouded temple at the summit.

Jenny Benevento is a knowledgeable and engaging speaker. Not only is she deeply experienced in the world of metadata, but her irreverent wit guarantees that this will be an entertaining and informative panel.

Jenny Benevento has a deep understanding of the mechanics by which information can be effectively organized. She has long recognized the power of finding ways to have social tagging and expert created metadata complement one another to create highly effective information storage and retrieval systems, eschewing the hype and ideologies of each individual camp in favor of a focus on user needs and developing an understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of each approach. It is this balanced understanding of controlled versus socially generated metadata which participants in this panel session will obtain. Given her wit and excellent presentational skills mentioned in previous comments, this panel will provide SXSW participants with joyful enlightenment that is pragmatically useful.

This panel will most likely have someone from Pandora, Google, Zappos, and Library Thing as well!

As someone who works with metadata and user interfaces on a daily basis, I can attest to the need for standards that can be both user-friendly and search-friendly. I'm looking forward to attending this panel.
