Description:
With companies like Tencent ($500M+ yearly revenue) and Habbo Hotel ($65M yearly revenue) generating a significant portion of their revenue from virtual goods, it's clear that virtual goods represent a real, viable business model and will likely have a huge impact across all of the consumer Internet, and not just in gaming. From pets to coins to avatars, virtual goods are becoming a real opportunity for companies who are looking to build more engaging online experiences.

This is the future. It's already happening all over Asia. We need more panels like this and bridge the gap between gaming and web people.

yes good panel topic and I believe in the fast development of this model. it will be help by new user friendly and simple payment solution for P2P and/or micro payment.A mobile payment solution as we are developing actually can certainly contribute to this development.

Timely and important - a generation of consumers have grown (and are growing) up with multiple reward and gifting systems from games experiences. How these cross pollinate with web models and on/offline community building will have a huge impact on how we need to design our experiences. Would love to see this @SXSW

This would make an excellent panel as the business models emerging from this area are already redefining the meaning of "consumer goods" - right before our eyes. A great panel discussion for SXSW - would love to see it!
