Who else is on this panel? Sounds interesting

I hope the title of this panel is meant to be ironic - I'm not sure many women, myself included, appreciate being described by our appearance, or as "chicks"...

Yes, the title is ironic but the panel will be hard hitting. The short list of potential panelists under consideration (and unconfirmed) include Kara Swisher, Heather Armstrong, Maggie Mason, Sarah Lacy, Veronica Belmont, Joanne Colan, Ann Crady, Tara Hunt, and others.

Glad to hear that, Narendra; it sounds like a good panel. If you'd like a British female sexblogger (previously anonymous, but 'outed' by the press)'s perspective to also be included, drop me a line.

Thanks Zoe, I am adding you to the short list.

yes, please and a suggestion - get women who are not necessarily as "public" since their perspective could be quite different (or not ;)

and also consider women who are actually developers rather than all content/marketing. again, just for a varied pt of view :)

Thanks Christine.
Just for background everyone, the idea for this panel came out of the Lacy/Zuckerberg interview and reactions afterward. Some of the key issues I want to have discussed include: the gender skew within tech (in engineering, management, finance and VC); the particular fight that intelligent high profile public women face; and some of the nuance of language and discourse that informs how we approach the subject.

Sarah Lacy? Wasn't she uninvited from SXSW after last year? And no Julia Allison, please. Let's keep this substantive. How about VMware founder Diane Greene?

Narendra, very interesting panel idea. By the way, Zoe, "chick" isn't always a bad thing. :) Sometimes it's ok to "own" the word. ;) FUNKYBROWNCHICK.com ... keeping it funky, brown and "chicky" 24/7.
