Format Panel
Organizer Dave Olson Uncle Weed
Description Photos are an integral part of building a band’s personality and attracting audience. This panel explores how bands and photographers can work together (technically & creativity) to produce images which enhance the artist/fan relationship. Using examples from veteran photographers and rising shooters, we’ll explore the role of photos for building a band’s culture and discuss some characteristics which make for a great rock n roll photo. Further, we’ll share tactics for working the pit, dealing with venues, getting media passes, forming relationships with bands, labels and managers plus explore various options for rights including the pros and cons of creative commons licensing. While not technical in nature, the photographers will compare shots and stories in their instructional anecdotes. Additionally, they’ll provide tips for bands to be better subjects for best results truly capture the band’s aesthetic.
