| Description | Wanted: 4 LTR, (open 2 LDR) NSA (especially boolean). You: W/M, ASL irrelevant, may be suffering from previous relationship TMI issues. We: are W/E, plausible FWB scenario (if UR ready for what we've got!). @librar* waiting 2 hear from U 2day! 1. We're back in the information dat(a)ing pool! And we're ready 2play nice in the sandbox again. We're done with the search-bar vs. reference-desk turfwar drama. 1st date rules R there 4 a reason tho! We need 2 pause, & take a step back: by examining why different tools R important in different settings we'll get 2 1st base faster: paper doesn't need batteries, digital word search *is* efficient when U *know* what UR looking 4,& browsing is a *skill*, when you don't know yet. - We'll explore how libraries can help us intimately explore others (tips 4 getting to 2nd base included if U talk back 2 us). 2. Libraries missed the Internet boat: boats R SO 20thC! Granted, we spent loads of time under the gearbox, but now we've re-engineered the wheel & we're ready 2 roam - ALL aboard! The library is public service & has the potential 2 be community action & advocacy. The library is an advocate for the well-beingness of human life. - We'll investigate & demonstrate some great examples of maverick, trailblazing library-as-community projects & how the emergence of citizen librarianship is an important intervention in2 the weakening of the public sphere. |
