Social Media and Higher Education: Connected, Smarter Communities

Event Interactive 2011
Format Panel
Organizer Yong Lee Social Media Club
Description As Social Media disrupts the status quo in every institution, the world of Higher Education is starting to feel the pressure to change and embrace this new technology. A few brave teachers and administrators have jumped ahead of the curve and others are following in their footsteps. For this panel talk, join several HigherEd leaders together with SMCEDU, a community project of Social Media Club to improve social media education in post-secondary schools, to learn what challenges they are facing and the innovations they are bringing to the table. We'll discuss what educators are teaching students, why students must fight for their own futures, and how some teachers have found success where others have been forced to give up. We will also discuss how SMCEDU can support teachers and students in your community to ensure that our college graduates have the knowledge and skills they need to contribute to the modern work force.
