Description:
In the wake of a torrid storm of mergers & acquisitions activity in Facebook Apps, the announcement of two VC funds dedicated to ONLY funding Facebook Apps, and a couple incubators designed to only support Facebook Apps, many people are asking is Facebook's application platform a revolution in openness or is it AOL 2.0 (yet another walled garden). Furthermore, Facebook is just a case study for a larger question as to whether proprietary, for-profit platforms can ever be truly "open."
