Description:
This panel is about operating in an environment without VC funding. There are great advantages of being funded but having your own idea and starting from scratch can be much more rewarding. The challenge in this panel is to get people to realize they can start small and be smart and have a better potential outcome.
Questions

  1. Is starting without funding a more likely reality in this business?
  2. Is owning 100% of your idea important?
  3. How does your thinking change when you start thinking about doing it out of your own pocket?
  4. My idea is so big, how do I start small?
  5. Has this industry convinced us that being profitable is not important?
  6. What other means of sustainable success do we have except profitability?
  7. Why operating in this fashion is a black swan?
  8. What are the short and long term benefits of building and owning it myself?
  9. Is selling out what people really want, or is it the necessary end to a flawed system?
  10. Is anyone motivated to change their path?

Oh, love this. It would be interesting to hear from different perspectives - those who took more money than they needed, those who took just enough and those who didn't take enough... like the three little bears. :) Perhaps hearing first hand how they did it and what regrets they have would help see the value of doing all three.
