This panel will discuss the practical aspects of forming and running a 'Seed Combinator' also known as a 'Seed Accelerator' for both investor/mentors and startup entrepreneurs interested in joining or starting a new kind of company incubator. If chosen to make it to SXSWi this year, I promise a lively panel filled with colorful characters who have strong opinions about just about everything related to technology, startups, investing and the current economy for early-stage tech companies.

Innovative way to drive innovation. I'm loving it.

It seems pretty clear that seed combinators are the new venture capitalists. As Mike Maples, Jr said - $500k is the new $5 million. Startup innovators need to know about the new options for financing and growing their companies.

There's a difference between local investors and the benefits of recognized seed investor brands. There are some straightforward tactics that YC, TechStars adn others use see http://www.startupnorth.ca/2009/04/13/incubators-accelerators-and-ignition/

But the question is does an incubator/seed combinator in a local or regional market have the same potential to attract talent and develop near term exits. Or is this really just a new "economic development" model that can be best described as charity venturing because of the low costs.

This is a great idea as it's a low-cost / high value method of funding and growing IP.
I vote YEAH for this one.

I feel like this might be a hot topic of SXSWi this year. Like co-working was last year. I'm excited to see it and to hear Marc's perspective.

If anyone can cover this topic, it is certainly Marc. Houston Technology Center has served as highly regarded beacon of what Houston can become -- innovative and competitive in the tech market.

I hope to see this panel at SXSWi, the topic I think will certainly be a hot one this year.

Great topic, Marc, especially in this economic environment where we all could use some entrepreneurial "stimulus".

I would love to see this idea spread out and create many such innovative incubators all over.

Marc always leads a lively discussion. And during a recession the topic is more relevant than ever with so many start-ups!

Great idea! We're trying to work our way through some of this stuff in Portland. I'm seriously hoping this makes the cut.

I think the type of folks that come to SXSW would really enjoy this topic!

This is the kind of interesting panel I'd like to assist. And the kind of questions Bolidea - the business I'm a co-founder of - often answers!
This will be a groundbreaking talk summarizing several important community based movements and providing direction for what's coming next.

the program sounds too awesome from Marc's tweets alone, a program that offers such mentorship and constant motivation makes me want to move to Austin, then drive to Houston so i can buy Marc a beer.

look forward to meeting you one day...
