Ok so I'm tooting my own horn here. If you're in business and you're wanting to better understand from a business perspective how to leverage social media and social networking for business growth, vote on this panel and attend it during SXSW2008. My plan is to make this relevant and specific in the B2C and B2B arenas.

This would be an outstanding panel!

Where are the "Social Marketing Strategies Metrics". I hear everyone talking about SM but I don't see any tangible metrics of effort in and results out. I think this would be an excellent panel. If you haven't already, you should consider getting Connie Reese involved (she's one of the main SMC peeps).

I agree with the previous comments. I know that Tom has enormous talent and vision when it comes to social media. He is driven to help people achieve success in their business using the internet. This panel would be a great contribution to CMO's who have been shying away from using this powerful media.

At the dawn of the Internet, Tom started one of the first ISPs in Austin. He's still leading the way and showing others how to follow the path he blazes.

Because the territory is changing so fast, we've just got to keep current on the latest trends if we want to keep ahead of our competition. Social media may be the killer app to the end of this decade. I want to know how to leverage it to best advantage. What better way to learn than to pick the brains of the way-showers in this field. Sign me up!

This panel really looks relevant to the whole area of social media and mainstream business. It's an emerging topic that is going to become very important to the direction of the Internet. I look forward to attending!

Tom Parish speaks about the trends and transformations in media in a way that is easy to understand, embrace and participate in. I would highly recommend attending any panel he joins.

Gotta second Paul's motion: Tom is a visionary thinker, an ubergeek and a solid, solid marketing professional. If you are involved in web marketing, you need to know what Tom knows today, to synch with the market tomorrow.

This looks to be a 'must attend' panel. Let's face it there are many choices and lots of promise for using 'on-going' social media strategies with traditional marketing campaign strategies. But how do we convince C-level managers of the payoff - the effectiveness?
on 8/9/07
In the time I've worked on various projects with Tom Parish, I can say I've learned one thing: he looks to improve the marketing and communications environment and encourage true social engagement that is based on solid metrics and measurements. You can't do much better.

Tom has been focused on web based marketing for a very long time now, and understands in detail the key tremors and shifts in social media and marketing today ... this will be an exciting panel and will generate a significant and interesting discussion on a compelling and challenging topic facing a lot of companies today seeking to embrace the power of social media.

I'm often looking for more info about how to measure effectiveness and with so many tools it's difficult to know what strategies are truly paying off. Tom does a great job of clearing up the obscure and clarifying matters, so I'd be interested in attending such a session if he was involved.

Tom, Spot on for a topic. Love the idea of getting real people who are using it for real business.

I think this is a really great topic. Social network is a phenomenon that isn't going away and learning how to utilize it for business is something I would like to know a lot more about. I really hope to see this panel.

Social Marketing is a wave of the future and Tom is definitely a spokesman on this subject because of his tremendous knowledge of the subject. He has a great public speaking voice and will make good points about the benefits of the subject and communicate them to his audience so it can be understood.
on 13/9/07
Utilizing the social network for corporate purposes will have its limitations as well as it's benefits. As a security writer who's been interviewed by Tom more than once, I can tell you he will not only delve into what's good about the medium, but also broadcast warnings about the dark side of social media, something that's already under attack ...

Five Stars!

Social Networking/Marketing IS Web 2.0. As such, it would stand to reason that architects and end users of the web would benefit from a meaningful dialog on the subject. Five Stars for sure!

great to see Tom on the panel list, I look forward to being in the audience- Tom gets social media.
