Once Upon a Web Design – Brand Storytelling

Description:
Just as every good Storybook has a sexy plot, interesting characters and possibly a sword fight or two, your brand’s Web site and online Story should keep your audience just as engaged and connected. Step away from mere Web design and live happily ever after in the realms of the digital Brand narrative.

  2. How does crafting a Brand narrative fit in with a company's mission and vision?
  3. Who are my Story's characters? How do I deal with the anti-heroes, the villains and the frogs?
  4. How do you plot your Story's action scenes through Facebook, Flickr and Twitter?
  5. What are the design elements that go into a Story-driven site and Web campaign? How do I tie it together?
  6. What is the importance of growing personal brands in my company to helping grow our Story? How do I promote them (or do I even dare?!) through my design and strategy?
  7. How can I keep my Story portable and customizable online for my fans and clients?
  8. What are the 10 elements of a Story driven site that will look good and perform even better?
  9. My client thinks I'm crazy asking to help craft a Story, can you put this in plain English so he doesn't think I've eating some of Alice in Wonderland's mushrooms?
  10. How can I make money and get more business with a brand Story?

Story is a really important element on a site that most organizations and businesses discount.

David is the Creative Director at Schipul and a brilliant designer. I work with him and seen him lead even the most stubborn of clients through the design process and towards a beautiful "fan" driven site.

I really hoe to see this panel at SXSW!!

David has a great way at looking at how a website should function. Yes beautiful design is needed but if it doesn't follow a narrative your users are left wondering just what they are looking at. If you confuse your site users you run the risk of them going to your competitor

I look forward to seeing this panel at SXSW 2009

While I love the idea of a truly actionable design panel at SXSW, I love the Storytelling slant even more - this is going to be a wonderful panel!!

Mainly I want to hear David use the words "sexy plot" and "storybook" in one paragraph.

And ok, I work with David and we are very strategy focused. So I particularly like the "What are the 10 elements of a Story driven site that will look good and perform even better?" breakdown which translates into action steps. In a recession we need facts and clear advice more than fluffy talk.

David's background teaching web design at Rice University suggests a lively and strong presentation.

Everyone loves a good story...and David possesses the ability to design an absolutely beautiful website while telling the story of your brand. This is such a great topic because it will show you that your company CAN be human online. Your site users can have a personable experience on your website simply by knowing your story.

I love storytelling and I would love to see this panel at SXSW!
