Description:
It is a telling statistic when 43% of government agencies run metrics before implementing social media tools—predominantly because of outdated policies and technologies. This presentation will share the results of an online survey of worldwide government employees and tell you—in their words--how government really feels about social media adoption.

  5. Are government agencies establishing metrics before implementing social networking tools?
  6. Are government agencies concerned about privacy or security when implementing social networking tools?
  7. Are government agencies implementing web monitoring tools?
  8. How frequent are government employees reading and writing blog posts, wiki entries, and/or photo/video sharing websites?

I think this is a fascinating topic. Looking at how the Obama team lead an incredible campaign, and then essentially stopped, I'd like to see what types of sustainable methods could be used by gov't entities. Good luck and look forward to seeing this among the SXSW '10 schedule.

This is a no brainer. Its essential to know what metrics to use for new media / social networking / web 2.0 / gov 2.0 - because you can not manage what you can't measure. This panel, especially viewed with Bev Godwin's and Andrea Baker's would bring logic and order to the chaos surrounding this topic.
