  2. What distinguishes the European market(s) from the American one?
  3. How do European startups get funding?
  4. What is it like to outsource to Eastern Europe?
  5. What is the European legal environment like? How is it different from the US?
  6. What have European startups learned from the American startup environment? What can American startups learn from European startups?
  7. European governments are trying to promote tech entrepreneurship by providing subsidies and better working environments. How can your startup profit from this?
  8. Are there fundamental entrepreneurial and cultural differences that make Euro companies different, whether in mindset, education, skills or focus?

  10. Does Europe have pockets where it has build competitive advantages in niche markets over the consumer web focus found in Silicon Valley?

This is defintely a pertinent and timely topic - although I probably won't make it to SXSW next year I'd be very interested to hear some/all of these questions answered!

Hello all,

I'm really excited about this panel and I hope you support us by giving it a thumbs up at the top of the page. The following people have expressed interest in joining the panel:
- Robert Gaael from Wakoopa (Netherlands)
- Alexander Ljund from Soundcloud (Germany)
- Renato Valdés Olmos from Hello My Name is E (Netherlands)
- Bruno Pedro from Tarpipe (Portugal)
- Stefan Fountain from Soocial (Netherlands)
- Ville Vesterinen from ArcticStartup (Finland)

Together they're a great team of entrepreneurs with a variety of different backgrounds and insights into the European startup environment. One thing we all agree on is that we want this panel to be a thoughtful consideration of how technology entrepreneurship happens in Europe today, rather than a session where people just complain how Europe is not Silicon Valley.

Again, thanks for your interest and I hope to see you at SXSW next year!

Sorry, but I forgot to mention Matt Biddulph of Dopplr (UK) may also join us.

I think it's a great idea for a panel and have voted for it but it might be better to have maximum one person from each country featured in order to give the broadest possible European view. I should be going to Copenhagen soon to talk to some startups there - can let you know if I come across anyone.
