Description:
Being a great web designer doesn't necessarily mean you can run a successful business. The panel will share their experiences of making the transition from developer to business owner and suggests ways to make the process less painful. Topics include, among others: handling clients, winning business and growing your business.

Great idea! It'd be good to have a panel that's aimed at people who aren't producing web aps, but are involved in the "ordinary" business of web design, for a change. I for one would love to know how to make the process of earning money more successful. IT'd be good if the panel included at least 1 freelancer as well. Running a studio and making money on your own are both businesses but they've got different pressures.

Having met Paul at last years British Booze-up and catching his podcast I think this would make a good one. I wonder if he'll be giving away copies of his book?

A bit more information for those of you who are interested in this... The panel will be made up of Myself, Andy Clarke, Jon Hicks, Alun Rowe so it should be entertaining if nothing else. The panel will focus on providing down to earth advice and so the takeaways will be very practical in nature. A small selection of takeaways could be: 1. Techniques for handling difficult and demanding clients 2. Approaches for promoting your business 3. Ways to expand and grow your business

I am really looking forward to this. I used to be a Webmaster and still am client of various Design Studios, then I got into Web Programming myself and now I am running the Web Design firm. So I see a three fold benifit already.
Good luck Paul.

Paul Boag, Andy Clarke, Jon Hicks, Alun Rowe will be a great Panel. I am Freelancer based in the UK and value the advice. I listen to Boagworld podcast and the advice is fantastic. So will be great to see this one!
