Too many questions in one. "Publishing" consists of several different processes. POD is changing publishing (getting-into-print process). POD plus Ebooks (incl. Kindle) plus Amazon/Ingram are changing publishing (distribution process). Social media may or may not be changing publishing (the marketing process).

Great topic. Also, and perhaps more interesting than the large houses is what the indies and more progressive publishers and writers are doing. Richard Nash (formerly of Soft Skull)'s new social publishing model is a great example.

I'd be interested. Sounds like it's right up my alley. The scope may be a wee bit broad, but these are issues that are very important to new and emerging writers. I think new writers are more willing to experiment with new publishing and marketing trends, so it would be very beneficial to find out what works well.
