Description:
Some argue that Radio is a dying commercial medium, but Supernova.com and Corus have demonstrated that community is the key to revitalizing radio. In building an interactive online community to support the 30th CFOX Seeds indie talent competition in Vancouver, Supernova.com shows how community can save the radio star.

Wait'll you see what the panel has in store! We created an amazing social community around a contest that had never existed online before; you can imagine the logistical challenge of running an indie talent search WITHOUT an online platform! Supernova.com's custom white label for Corus' CFOX was the perfect match up for this talent-heavy band search :)

For the first time ever, this year The Fox Vancouver Seeds competition was powered by the white-label social network created by Supernova.com, a leader in social networking sites for the new music scene.

Seeded by over 165,000 established users with a passion for new music, Supernova’s white-label product was the ideal solution to the challenge of supporting an event like The Fox Vancouver Seeds talent search.

Originally powering the Supernova.com music community, the Supernova white-label network created for Corus Radio’s 99.3 The FOX will host over 300 new band profiles of Fox Vancouver Seeds competitors, featuring new music tracks, artist photos and videos, as well as music exploration and voting modules.

The Supernova.com social network tools not only encourage participation from bands, but also from fans and listeners. Users can log in to listen to the competitors, share their favourite band’s music and video, and vote to help determine who wins Fox Vancouver Seeds 2009. The result was a musically immersive and interactive community, centered around the station’s talent search initiative.

“99.3 The Fox is thrilled about our new partnership with Supernova.com,” stated program director, Chris “Dunner” Duncombe. “Fox Vancouver Seeds has a 30 year heritage of supporting Canadian talent with artists like Bif Naked, Nickelback, Default, Matt Good, State of Shock, and Daniel Wesley all having been past winners. Supernova.com provides the program with an opportunity to create a customizable artist environment to further our support of independent talent. This partnership is an essential innovation for the 2009 program and for years to come.”
