CrowdControl: Changing The Face Of Media Or Hype?

Event Interactive 2010
Format Panel
Organizer Lila King CNN.com
Description A discussion about the new media democracy, citizen journalism and the wisdom of the crowd. Readers and consumers of media have exerted a new level control around how news and entertainment is created, shared and consumed. For example, Iranian citizens used social media to report on post-election activity in June 2009 when international media had limited access. This intensifying shift in power via social media is further impacting the media landscape. We already live in an interactive society but this global proliferation and escalation exemplifies the value of the wisdom of the crowds. The panel will discuss core tenets of this theory and how it is affecting current and future digital media business models.
