It would be nice if we could come up with a way for open-source solutions to be submitted customized to our needs inside the firewall.

I'm extremely excited to see government open up a bit and let outsiders contribute their expertise. This panel looks great. I know Matt Burton well: He's a great speaker and knows his stuff inside-out. And he's got a bit of a rare perspective as a guy with both experience working inside government *and* as an experienced programmer, open-source/open-government advocate, and very tech-smart dude.

I think that the more transparent our government, the further we can advance, and quickly eliminate lobbyists from passing some of our laws under false pretenses. If this is a panel that is at SXSW, I may consider attending with a colleague of mine.

It would be nice to see the Midwest represented at SXSW Interactive
