As one of the panelists, it'd be rude to vote, but this is actually one of my favourite panel ideas ever, since it's something I've struggled with forever (and, y'know, I just recently *did* one of these transitions!)

Panelists: Jeremy Wright (as noted above!), Chris Brogan, Erin Kotecki Vest

All of us have made major changes to our lives in the past year and have found our bliss - and used Social Networks and our online communities to facilitate it.

Fantastic panel topic, Lucretia! I can imagine an over-flow on this one - I'll certainly be there!
on 17/8/09
Are you kidding? Lucretia AND Erin AND Chris AND Jeremy? I'm going off the cliff with them....
on 28/8/09
Love this topic, love the panel - I'm there!
on 29/8/09
I'd love to go and just soak it all in...

I really kind of hope this one goes through. When Jeremy and I brainstormed it, we knew that Chris & Erin were the first people we'd ask... and I just think it would be fun to (as Sheila said) "go off the cliff with them" and with you. Because we all know that there will be folks at SXSWi who have done the same sort of leap and there will be some who are contemplating it.

Yep, I'm stupidly excited about this. Fully prepared to look like an idiot and admitting I don't know what I'm doing and learning from the stars on this panel!

product of brother Obama's party opening floodgates of easy credit and bankrupting the economic model of capitalism in the last 6 years. I made my living fixing and calibrating laser equip and also installing and configuring GPS machine control for tractors, dozers etc. Construction ground to a virtual halt then the supply chain was affected by lack of parts do to downsized inventories- I embrace the social media as a tool to reach out to the clueless sheep that blindly follow the leader's they have chosen for themselves...effective communication begins by getting folks aware without sounding like you know better than the other person- I try to keep an open mind when presenting my point and "hear" how I'm sounding to someone not presently agreeing with it. This new exchange of fame for "celbrity" has me quite disturbed as the eloquent speaker with nice hair trumps the knowledgable and/or unpopular because people picking "sides" my state is red or blue ? WTF is up with this- this system is designed to keep people concerned with what team they are on more than how ineffective those elected actually represent the people.
Keep everyone fighting with each other instead of working together collectively to actually change the situation.

now off the soapbox,
1 I'm 50 and starting over again what is too old?
2 I might get lucky to find my hard work rewarded
3 I'm not going to stop trying so this is a TBC
4 Pos attitude and faith in my creator's plan for me on this rock
5 lack of adaquate funds to build this like I'd want to
6 without sugar coating the bad possibilities, and keeping the message on the plus side when things are tough
7 no worries I just keep focused on my goals and work around obstacles but GIVE OFF the power of my enthusiasm
8 Imeet such incredible folks online I'd never have the opportunity to in any other way and we can draw off of each other's skills and offer the support to members struggling to find their ways
9you have to know when to throw out a barrel of stinking rotting crap instead of finding the not as smelly sometimes the odor might not stop some but It makes me ill
10 yes I'd have been this broke maybe but spent more time watching my children grow up

i gave a talk on balance and quality of life at SXSWi09, after having made the switch from corporate to sabbatical/unemployed. still mulling over what all the learnings have been, but i'm very excited to see this talk!
Love it! Look forward to seeing this in the mix of options when I arrive in Austin!
