This is a great idea for a panel. You should invite someone from ArtPrize:

http://www.artprize.org/

ArtPrize leverages social media and a public vote to award the largest prize ever for a visual art contest.

There needs to be a new approach - there are more photographers / artists each day - they need an outlet to sell their work - sites like 20x200; as well as blogs, social networking sites will help to breakdown the selling structure of the traditional gallery world. I think this is a very important topic and Jen Bekman Gallery is uniquely placed to present these ideas.

They get my vote!

20x200 is one of the most interesting things happening art-wise on the web, and this should be really informative.

What a fantastic panel. I would love to know more about these issues! For those of us who might not make sxsw, would you consider doing a panel online or even somewhere back east?
on 3/9/09
Hi Lori --
Definitely. After the panel we'll work on getting an online version up, and at the very least a video of the presentation capturing what we discuss.
