It would be great to see non-US stories too. Portland, Boulder, Boston, Omaha are wonderful stories. It would be nice to include a Eurpoean (Seedcamp) and other (think Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver story).

As a bay area to Omaha transplant, I can attest that what I've seen happen in Omaha in the last few years has been inspiring.

Out here, it took a few individuals with some gumption to harness and rally the seething entrepreneurial potential energy which lay waiting. The community that's growing out here is very supportive, energetic and creative.

This sort of potential, I'm sure, exists in many other communities. This sort of panel will inspire potential leaders in those communities.

Jeff and friends did a killer job with Big Omaha. These are interesting questions and would make a great topic.

I attended Big Omaha this past May and it was a phenomenal event that Silicon Prairie News produced. Jeff not only motivates, but gives you the tools and strategies to help you, and your community, be a success.

Big Omaha, the little Midwest conference that blew everyone away, showed us all how valuable regional collaboration is to development, entrepreneurship, and creativity in general. I hope this panel makes it because it'd be the first one on my dance card!

Looks like a great team and topic.

Good for you guys. Voted up! Love to see community sprouting up in unlikely places. Despite it's size, Phoenix has had trouble until recently as well. We like to think that Gangplank has helped that cause immensely. :) Community is important but takes commitment and effort. Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Voted up. Omaha's entreprenurial/design/technology community has been blooming the last few years.

Don't Move!

Great title. Getting people involved in the community is essential to retaining talent. Jessica's work with Net2NO has helped galvanize a community here in New Orleans and I look forward to hearing about experiences in other cities as well.

Having moved back to Nebraska after a ten year stint in Washington, DC and its technology community, I've been very encouraged by the exponentially increasing entrepreneurial activity in the Omaha area. This would be a very interesting panel line-up and a heartening story for many SXSW participants to hear.

Great looking panel & lineup. Love this idea, and really would be interested in this.

BIG Omaha was a entrepreneurial war cry from the plains. Nebraska is just getting started! If Jeff & Co. can start what they started here, so can anyone from around the globe.

As someone who's followed Portland startup scene closely for years, I can think of no one who is doing more today to create community among Oregon startups and the people who follow them than Rick Turoczy. Not to mention he's probably the most humble among his peers. Definitely an asset to this panel idea.

This sounds like great panel. I've lived in Silicon Levee (New Orleans) for just about a year and can't imagine launching my tech startup elsewhere. The community that Jessica and others here have created is an asset to this city.

Great panel idea - it dovetails perfectly with mine: http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/ideas/view/4859 I hope we both make it since the regional/super regional areas outside of Silicon Valley and Route 128 are finally getting on the map as far as Tech startups go. You've got my vote.

A big thumbs up! Those four cities sound like big cities to me. I'm always glad to hear the evidence that you don't have to go to the "big name" cities to be a success.

Phenom idea - loving this topic, can't wait for this panel to share their enthusiasm, insight and lessons learned with us! This is a breath of fresh air idea. BIG. THUMBS. UP!
