Title:

Building Hyperlocal Websites for the Future

Your vote:
Level:

Type:
Panel
Category:
Philosophical, Social
Presenter:
Erica Mauter , Metroblogging Minneapolis
Description:
Numerous models of local, community-oriented sites have been tried. Some have failed. Some have been wildly successful. Some are still finding their place. What works? What doesn't? Does it scale? Where's the line between local and hyperlocal? What role does the local culture play? What's missing? What's next?

The discussion will draw on the expertise and experience of the founders of Metroblogging, Fresno Famous, MNspeak, and Wicked Local.

Whether it's business or community-oriented sites, localization is huge. It's more than just a Web presence, but a way to engage and communicate with your site visitors. As a visitor or consumer, these sites give me trust on events to go to, or why I should go to a chinese restaurant two miles away instead of the one down the street and I couldn't be happier because of it.
