Description:
The industry has many books about Agile software development, but managers are still looking for how they can foster the kind of team it takes to create quality software quickly and sustainably. Many manager don't know the right people to recruit, the right training or the right engineering policies. This discussion will cover how a software manager can staff, grow, and sustain a high-performing agile software team. This session is not about how to become a manager. This is a highly advanced talk that will challenge the worldview of current IT staff. Prepare to be challenged.

If a manager doesn't know how a software engineer does his job, the manager can't evaluate performance or coach improvement. Managers need to guide the software professionals on the team, and that means they need to be equipped with the knowledge of what to expect and how to measure.

With the agile movement gaining broad acceptance, I think it is critical to adapt management practices to the brave new world. Status quo won't work. Looking forward to hearing Jeffrey's perspective...
