Description:
With a plethora of new HD production formats available, how does a director or producer decide which one to shoot in? This panel will debate the benefits of IT-based HD production workflows, including RedOne's Redcode, Panasonic's p2 - in DVCPRO and AVC-Intra flavors; Sony's XDCAM EX, and options for capturing HD video directly to computer over digital connections.

This is great because as a filmmaker I really don't understand the true benefits of each of these. It will be great to hear a panel fight it out!

I have to admit, I have a hard enough time figuring out the difference between SD and HD and HDV... I'm totally lost when it comes to one level down of detail. I'd love some help figuring out what it all means.

Would love to hear more about the finishing process for each medium in your discussion. I don't know much about Sony's XDCAM EX but we've been working with the RED ONE camera for the past year. It's amazing to see what you can do with the material in the conform process and how easy the work flow is from the offline edit, to the conform, to color.
