Description:
University web presences need an urban plan approach. Their operation is much more akin to a city than a corporation. Urban planners try to provide a structure for a city, but know that they do not need to control the design of every building or the location of every business. The tension is to have all of the departments and centers share an identity, yet still maintain their uniqueness. Where should is the line be drawn in the university environment?

I am really looking forward to talking about this idea at SXSW. It is a concept that I have developed through my experience as a professor and by leading up projects at Duke, Univ of Delaware, and The University of the Arts.

Possible Copresenters/Panel include:
Emily Bahna, Director of Web Services, Duke University
Paolo Mangiafico, Digital Projects Consultant, Duke University
John Romanski, Director of Web Services, Franklin and Marshall College
Laura Zarrow, Associate Provost, The University of the Arts
