Three cheers for a little action here in D.C.

This should be a great panel discussion as we all have different community building backgrounds both online and off. I definitely will be able to draw from my experiences in co-founding TECH cocktail (www.techcocktail.com) the community building effort which has been traveling across the nation showcasing technology communities like Boulder, Boston, DC and Chicago with more cities coming soon.

Guess who is the number one purchaser of technology in the world? You may not know that it is the federal government, headquartered here in Washington, DC. It is vital that the DC technology community explore the current hurdles so that they can be overcome. Looking forward to learning more!

Go Team!
In the Knowledge Economy, tech infrastructure and tech-inspired ideas need to be distributed. Tech as an industry is going away because it's becoming an integral part of everything. We need to distribute the knowledge. The Valley will always be special, but we need to build other areas, too.

Excellent panel idea. I've been watching communities develop in NYC and DC over the last several years and would love to see people sharing their experiences growing tech scenes outside the Valley.

You have to have LA representation on this panel, Nick! We'll find the perfect person!

These guys have done a fantastic job with the DC tech scene - I'm continually impressed by everything they're thinking of. Anyone interested in developing their own tech scene could learn a ton from any one of these guys. And people should be exploring this topic more - there is a lot of talent and creativity outside of California. Levering all of it in the most efficient manner should be a top priority.

We'd love to hear this up in Portland
