Description:
Are you a woman (or a man) who loves to tech out but is tired of sexism, ageism, and the lack of diversity? Women in tech and social media experts identify strategies for breaking through the digital ceiling. The panel will discuss topics such as getting heard by upper management, how to effectively advocate for your work and expertise, what men can do to help promote women in technology as well as how to break through the barriers of being too young or too old in the tech sector.
Questions
Answered:
  1. How can women in tech effectively break through the digital ceiling?
  2. What good strategies can women in tech use to get heard by upper management?
  3. What men can do to help promote women in technology?
  4. How can women toot their own horn more effectively at work and in their field and get promoted to the positions they worked hard for?
  5. How do you address situations when your boss or client takes your male tech colleagues opinions more seriously than your opinions?
  6. How do we develop more gender balanced and diverse tech teams?
  7. Should we draw a line defying geeky girls VS hot technobabe stereotypes?
  8. How does a 20+ year tech veteran compete with young, fresh techies in a competitive job market?
  9. What can you do to reinvent yourself, increase your skills, marketability, and stay on top of your game?
  10. How do you work with peers who are significantly younger or older then you and not fall into the traditional mentor/mentee relationship?

With all due respect to the panelists, events like this only reinforce an imaginary glass ceiling, and do nothing to promote fairness. "What men can do to promote women in technology"? Really? You need a man to help you with that?

If you want to get ahead in tech, try being good at what you do.
