Are Women Taken More Seriously On The Web?

Your vote:
Level:
Beginner
Type:
Panel
Category:
Human / Social Issues
Organizer:
Laura Roeder , Roeder Studios
Panelists:
Blagica Bottigliero (blagica.com), Karen Chu (chuchurocketeer.net), Carly Kocurek (sparklebliss.com/blog), Laura Roeder, moderator (Roeder Studios)
Description:
Women used to have to get our foot in the door THEN prove that we deserved to be there. With blogging and social networking, we're now able to portray a more cohesive picture of our views, interests, and skills. Have blogging and social networking changed the way that women are viewed and treated?

I never thought about this before. I want to hear more!
I've worked in the digital space since 1998 and have seen it all. The evolution of my interactions with sales people, media professionals and techies actually improve over the years - but there is room to grow.

Laura, can you post who the other panelists are / might be?

It's a great question. I look forward to hearing your answer!

Russ - so far I have a definite yes from Blagica Bottigliero

For those that are interested in more detail, here are a few questions that will be discussed:
• Has the web made beauty matter less?
• How much does gender come into play when searching for job applicants or business partners online?
• Are women aware of this issue when crafting their online presence?
• Has the web helped to lessen the stereotype of brains OR beauty but never both for women?

Really interesting theory, am interested to see what people will say on this panel and how the perception of women has changed online, for better or for worse.

There's so many questions raised just by the title of this, and so many directions it could branch out in. I don't see how it could not be fascinating.
